Who We Are

St Patrick’s Centering is a Prayer Group that meets on Wednesdays after the 9am Mass.

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer which deepens our relationship with God, the indwelling Presence- a prayer which we can experience God’s presence within us closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness.

What We Do

We gather in person and join with others who are unable to attend otherwise on Zoom for prayer, perhaps praying the gospel also known as Lectio Divina, sharing a brief program, concluding no later than 11am.  We belong to Contemplative Outreach of Central Florida joining other prayer groups for Retreats.  The “training” is a 3- or 4-part information introduction that takes a short period of time and is enhanced by videos and especially the book, “Open Mind, Open Heart” by Fr Thomas Keating, available on Amazon and other fine book outlets.

Like all Christian Prayer, Contemplative Prayer is rooted in the word of God in scripture and the person of Jesus Christ.  Its source is the indwelling of the Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God in unconditional love takes the initiative in relation to us.  At the same time our desire for God is God’s gift to us. We love God because God first loved us.  (1 John 4:19)
