Advent & Christmas

Breakfast with St. Nicholas

Sponsored by St. Patrick’s Groups and Religious Education Program

Each year Sister Judy identifies families from our parish family who are struggling financially and need help to provide any Christmas gifts for their children. The St. Nicholas Event began in 2012 as a way to ensure these needs were met and every child had a gift for Christmas. The event gives the families of our parish a way to share the joy of giving. This year’s event is coming soon.

Breakfast with St. Nicholas—Saturday, December 7th—9:00 – 11:00 AM—Parish Social Hall

What will be happening at the event? We will be serving a delicious pancake breakfast in a festive atmosphere with Christmas Carolers and so much more. You and your family can help at stations for gift wrapping, greeting card crafting. Of course, St Nicholas will be there and children may have their picture taken with him courtesy of Carolyn Green.

What about the gifts for the children? Sr. Judy has provided a list of children in need along with the gift they are hoping for. We are making the list available to all parishioners so that all the needs are met without creating a burden on anyone.

Where do we bring the gifts? Please plan to bring the unwrapped gifts to the event on December 7th. If you are unable to attend, please ask a friend to bring it to the event or drop your gift at the Church Office before Friday, Dec 6th. If you take a child’s name and are unable to get the gift, please call Trudy Johnson at 352-406-1620 or Judi Zeller at 407-694-5323 so that the gift request can be offered to someone else.

Are we inviting the people of the parish?

Yes, everyone is welcome. We will promote through the bulletin, Religious Education flyers, and in announcements before Mass.

Do we need to make a reservation? No, there is no need to register. The event is free and everyone is welcome.

Please also pray for these children and their families that they may have relief from their financial hardships and enjoy a blessed Christmas.  May God bless you for your generosity.

For more information, please call Trudy Johnson at 352-406-1620 or Judi Zeller at 407-694-5323

I arise today
Through God's strength:
God's might to uphold me, God's wisdom to guide me, God's eye to look before me, God's ear to hear me, God's word to speak for me, God's hand to guard me, God's way to lie before me, God's shield to protect me, God's host to save me

Christ to shield me today
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
