St. Patrick Council of Catholic Women

Membership in the St. Patrick Council of Catholic Women is open to all women of the Parish. Established in 1970, the Council currently consists of approximately 130 women. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 1 PM in the Social Hall. Guests are always welcome and encouraged to attend. Monthly business meetings are followed by a guest speaker or an activity geared towards the interest of its membership. Refreshments are served. Dues are $12 per year

An elected Board of Directors presides over each business meeting. No officer of the Board shall hold any office for more than two consecutive years, unless there are extenuating circumstances. The current Board for fiscal year 2017-2018 is as follows:

Mission Statement:

“The Mission of the Council, as defined by its By-Laws, is to assist the Pastor, as the Representative of the Bishop, in building up the Body of Christ and His Church in all spiritual and material objectives, to encourage attendance at Mass and Communion on First Fridays, thus promoting the spiritual growth and welfare of each member, as we work for the parish and area charities.”

The privileges of membership in the Council include:

  • the right to vote, to hold Office and to serve as elected officers
  • to benefit from a monthly Mass for living and deceased members
  • to benefit from a Mass at the time of death of a member and/or her spouse or child
  • support of a community of sisters in furthering spiritual growth and well being

The following Commissions and Committees are appointed by the President and serve to carry out our Mission Statement:

Spirituality Commission: The aim of this Commission is to create a community of God's people that is educated and dynamic. Its program of study and action in the areas of scripture, liturgy and ecumenism lead to the experience of community and of Christ's own life.

  1. Legislative Committee - provides information and techniques for influencing legislation as promoted by the Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Orlando Diocese Office of Advocacy and Justice.

Service Commission: The aim of this Commission is to involve the members and all people in working to answer the needs of the parish and our community as well as to awaken awareness in all Christians of their responsibility for the international society and the brotherhood of all.

  1. Nursing Home Ministry: visitations to area Nursing Homes offering friendship, goodwill and the donation of well being items provided by the membership.
  2. Funeral Reception Assistance: The families of recently deceased parishioners may request the Council provide a funeral reception for attendees following a funeral. This Committee is responsible for notifying and coordinating the activities of the funeral reception.

Leadership Commission: This Commission shall give supportive services to the President and the other Commissions. Its services shall include organization development, membership and hospitality.

  1. Bake Sale Committee: A monthly bake sale is scheduled for the first weekend of each month to help support the organization's annual objectives.
  2. Communications Committee: Communicates with membership (via phone or email) to inform or remind them of up-coming events or agenda changes.
  3. Hospitality Committee: Responsible for setting-up the Parish Hall for the monthly CCW meetings and related events.
  4. Membership Committee: Collects yearly dues, maintains a current list of members and the yearly publication of the Council Directory in November.
  5. Share the Wealth Committee: A 50/50 raffle is held at each monthly meeting of the Council. This committee is responsible for selling raffle tickets at the welcome table prior to each meeting to help support the organization's annual objectives.
